We value serving Christ by meeting the needs of the least among us compassionately and responsibly while also addressing injustices that we encounter (Ps. 82:2-4; Matt. 25:31-46; Is. 58:6-7; Gal. 2:10; James 1:27-2:7).
Wise compassion is imperative for the Church to help raise people out of the lifestyles which can contribute to need. We value honoring God and lifting those he allows us to serve by expressing godly compassion in a true and effective way. We seek to use God's gifts of love, wisdom and physical resources as we work with those who seek assistance at UBC. In this approach we recognize our human tendency to meet our own emotional needs in the process of serving others. We seek to discern what is best for each individual who God would have us serve.
